THE MEDALLION HUNT IS ON!
Attention, all citizens in the Mound area! A medallion was made to commemorate the Mound Centennial. But something terrible has happened! It was stolen and no one seems to know where it is…except the thief! Highly secretive communiqués have been received by the city that the culprit plans to toy with the citizenry of Mound by releasing one clue of its location to the city every day throughout the Centennial festival. He has indicated that the clues will begin on July 14th and end on July 21st.
To ward off this evil villan, the Centennial and Spirit of the Lakes Festival has issued a bounty to any person that can find it and turn it into the city. A bounty of $500.00! will be paid to the person who can return the medallion to the city for verification of its authenticity. The thief has said that if no one finds it by the end of the festival on July 22nd, that he will take it back and keep it forever. Can you beat the thief? Can you save this medallion for your city before it disappears forever?
Succumbing to the instructions of the thief, the city and festival will post the clue that is submitted to them every day on this website below! Neither the festival nor the city knows where it is located. Don’t let the bad guys win the day. Be courteous, be respectful, but have fun. Watch the City of Mound or Spirit of the Lakes website home pages for any other announcements and for posting of rules and clues.
Medallion Hunt Rules
Even though an evil villan has stole the Medallion, hidden it and has given us rules to follow! We felt we would release the rules in a way that we can turn his evil plans into fun for everyone while still complying to his guidelines!
The idea is for families to get out of the house, have some fun, and to spend some time around Mound. Its true. The lucky sleuth young or old who can find this medallion and turn it in for authentication, will receive $500 in hard cold cash.
The prize is expected to be awarded in Surfside Park during the afternoon park renaming ceremony. But the winner is encouraged to turn in the medallion to the city or Spirit of the lakes staff as soon after finding it as possible so proper arrangements can be made.
All ages are eligible. However, Mound city employees and City Councilmembers and immediate families are not. Festival officers and staff are not eligible either due to involvement in clue distribution.
All clues will be posted in the morning right here (below) no later than 8:30am everyday!
The first clue will be posted in the morning of Saturday, July 14th and the last one, if it takes that long, will be on Saturday July 21st.
Be respectful of property and have a grand time. A couple pre-clues are posted below.
We have a few Pre-Clues!
1) Look high – look low but do not dig. No shovels needed here, nor climb above the earthen realm, be safe in hunting there.
2) A park, a road, a lakeside beach where ever could I rest? Public land is all in play for hunting – be my guest.
3) Respect all private property – do not enter there. You do not need to anyway to find me in my lair.
4) From east to west, from north to south, both high and low in Mound, Good luck to you and all who search exploring all around.
Through many years my face has changed, I'm different than before.
This should be a little help in what you're looking for.
Have fun as you go looking for this place in which I hide
as others do when they pass by, some even take a ride.
