Grand Parade, Grand Marshal Clarification
"The Spirit of the Lakes Festival is excited about the upcoming event! As we prepare for the festival, we also would like to respond to any rumors about a Grand Marshal for the parade (to be held July 17th at 10am). There will not be a Grand Marshal for this year's parade. We have not had a Grand Marshal for the parade since it's return in 2005. Although the Festival has had many conversations about who would be a great candidate for this honor, we have never officially had a Grand Marshal. In last week's Laker, it was shared that there will in fact be a Grand Marshal this year, but this is simply not the case. The Parade committee and the Board of Directors for the Festival had tossed around possibilities, but nothing was officially decided. Based on the response to the recent rumors it is clear that our community is passionate about a Grand Marshal! Therefore, we will be inviting all of our fellow community members to submit suggestions for the 2011 parade. These can be made to our email at info@spiritofthelakes.com or via voicemail at 952-334-6551. Thank you for your support of the Spirit of the Lakes Festival: A festival for the community and by the community. See you next week!"
Join us for Mayor’s Welcome at 7pm, followed by the Kiddie Parade and Music in the Park with Family friendly Entertainment.
